January 1, 1923 – July 17, 1995 in Mesa, Arizona at age 72.  A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 21, at Velta Rose Methodist Chapel in Mesa with the Rev. Doug Mauer officiating.  Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at the Norwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Bellairs officiating.  Burial will take place in Norwood Cemetery.  Mr. Pearson was born in New Troy, the son of Arthur and Beatrice (Sowersby) Pearson.  On June 14, 1947, he married Dorothy Storm in Jackson and the couple made their home in Dearborn.  Mr. Pearson served with the U.S. Navy in the Air Transport Service on Guam.  He received his master’s degree from Western Michigan University and taught at Dearborn High School for 23 years.  He was principal and superintendent at Gobels High School for nine years and retired in 1978.  Mr. Pearson was a ham radio operator and a member of the Superstation Amateur Radio Club.  He also played on the Elks Golden Age Softball Team.  Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie”, two daughters, Ann Renard (Gary) of Troy, and Kay Plahutnik (Frank), of Midland; one son, James Pearson (Diane), of Highland; one stepson, Clair Truax of LaMesa, California; four grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Smith of Hopkins, Michigan, Zelma Clark of Freesoil, and Gladys Schoneboon of Sneads, Florida; one brother, Kenny Pearson, of Fort Myers, Florida; and nieces and nephews.  Mr. Pearson was preceded in death by a granddaughter Erin Renard, in July 1995.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the L.H.S. Home Hospice, 325 E. Elliott, No. 27, Chandler, Arizona 85225.  Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at the Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth.
